Unsung Hero Award

We are very proud to announce that our very own Debbie Keary recieved the 'Exceptional Achievement' award at the Unsung Hero Event for International Women's Day. Below you can read what the people who nominated her said about the difference she makes to the community of Hulme. Congratulations Debbie for your award and thank you for your dedication to support our children and families. 

Debbie has worked tireless for the lives of children and families attending
Martenscroft Nursery School and Sure Start Centre. She has established
outstanding early years education for children across the city through her
40-year career. Working with Manchester’s Children's Services,
safeguarding, public health, partners, Hulme residents, schools, health
services. Debbie is a collaborator who puts the children first  so that their
voices can be heard, and they can reach their full potential.
Debbie’s work means that the whole family is engaged she is innovative 
and one of her nominations described this perfectly ‘Her leadership has
helped to give the children of Hulme the best start in life by offering support
to parents to enable them to adapt to family life, learn skills and feel socially
connected to the area they live in and others within the community.’ One of
her nominations described the ‘hub’ she has created through her work at
Martenscroft with ‘generations of families going to the nursery and taking
part in activities there.’
Debbie ensures the children and families are an active part of Hulme, you
will have no doubt seen them! Whether it’s doing a litter pick, singing at
Festive events here or in Hulme Park they are a present, and important
part of our community.
Debbie is on so many panels and networks across the Neighbourhood 
she is integral to making Hulme and Manchester a safer place for children
to develop and grow. She plays an active role in supporting the most
vulnerable within Hulme. We all know from Debbie, that it’s never too early
to engage a child, and she’s played a key role in Baby Week  an initiative
across Manchester putting our youngest Mancunians at the heart. We
take this moment to recognise Debbie for her Outstanding Contribution to
Hulme.
